Diamond Craft Journey

Diamond Craft Journey

We’re committed to transparency and are proud to share the journey of a Tiffany diamond with our clients. In 2019, we launched the Diamond Source Initiative, providing provenance information—region or countries of origin—for every newly sourced, individually registered diamond (of .18 carats and larger) that we set. In 2020, we expanded upon this initiative with the launch of the Diamond Craft Journey, becoming the first global luxury jeweller to reveal to its clients the countries where these stones are crafted.

Vertical Integration

Vertical Integration

At Tiffany & Co, we have been investing in the sustainability of our supply chain for over 20 years. We own and operate diamond polishing workshops around the world in Belgium, Mauritius, Botswana, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as a Tiffany & Co. gemmological laboratory in New York and five jewellery manufacturing workshops in North America. Our vertical integration model gives us a strong chain of custody over raw materials, direct oversight of our manufacturing and a platform to help improve global standards and conditions. Because we operate our facilities to superior standards, we can help ensure safe, healthy and welcoming work environments. We hire and train skilled craftspeople and pay a living wage to employees at our manufacturing facilities in developing countries to support local people and communities.

Supplier Engagement

Supplier Engagement

Responsible sourcing at Tiffany means supporting human rights, fair labour and environmental conservation. Tiffany’s Social and Environmental Accountability (SEA) program aims to embed responsible sourcing practices into our supply chain. Through this initiative, we replace the traditional audit approach, directly engage with suppliers and contribute to high performance across the chain.

Colored Gemstones

Coloured Gemstones

Approximately 80% of the world’s coloured gemstones come from small-scale artisanal mines, which makes it difficult to trace a coloured stone’s origin. We use strict protocols for sourcing the 60 varieties of coloured gemstones featured in our jewelry. We will continue to work with our suppliers and other partners to improve traceability through our Coloured Gemstone and Source Warranty Protocol and engage in three key sourcing regions to improve social and environmental impacts by 2025.
